Dota 2 Guides
What is Dota 2 guide?
Dota 2 guides is a way for Dota 2 community to share their specific Dota 2 knowledge to others. Be it how to play a certain hero, a certain role, an advance mechanism, or advance technique and tactic, every useful information that can help the others is welcome here.
How to make a good guide?
Organize the section. Plan ahead on how do you want to write the guide, make a little note for yourself on the guide's structure. Divide the guide into little specific section so it's easy to write and read. Common body structure like Introduction and end words/conclusion is always encouraged.
Make each section recognizable. There are many ways to do this such as, Bold, CAPS, Larger Size, and/or colors. Center alignment is also a common way on how to separate a big section.
Picture is always a good way to teach and learn. No one likes to read long explanations of things and picture nice to show a specific things in the game. Things such as warding spot, hiding spot, and positioning needs picture to show the exact spot. Even if you don't need the picture, picture is always a good and fun way for those who read your guides.
Stop reading this shit, and start to write your own guide ! If we deem your guide to be useful and outstanding, we will give you a guide award (award is only for member). Remember, no plagiarism!
Intro Note:
Basic rules must be followed in order to create an orderly library of guides for our members to enjoy.
-As of May 18th we will be making the DotA Guide forums more organized.
Rules:
1. This section is for members to create and share their guides that they created for heroes or game tips and hints.
2. Post only constructive feedback. Flaming will be deleted and reported.
3. Use [In Progress] Prefix ONLY if your guide is still being completed.
4. Use [Published] Prefix ONLY when your guide is completely done to your liking.
5. Newly Published guides will be reviewed by a moderator to insure proper grammar and spelling.
Format for Guides:
This should be a general overview of your guide. Make sure it is very in depth.
I. Table of Contents
II. Introduction
III. Pros and Cons
IV. Hero Overview
V. Skill Order
VI. Item Order
VII. Game Play
VIII. Allies and Enemies
IX. Replays
X. Outro
Pictures are not required, however, they do help the guide be more personable and no one likes to see giant blocks of text. Remember that punctuation and new paragraphs are your friend.
I will be continuously adding new features to this board and hope to liven it up a bit. One thing I have in mind at the start is for rewards to be given out upon publishing of a *great* guide. (This has yet to be implemented or even asked for). But for now, just keep posting these great guides.
Thanks guys, your guides make AWP a better gaming community!
When requesting a guide remember to be specific about what exactly you want.
For example, don't just say, "I want a warding guide." Instead be more specific like, "I would like someone to make a guide about how to efficiently ward dependent upon various circumstances," or something to that degree, so that whatever guide is made will cater more to not only the individual request of the member requesting, but will be a solid guide to help out anyone with a similar need.
